Exhibition at NYC gallery ConArtist Collective and SaveArtSpace billboard installation for 2018 Fell

From September 25th to September 28th, 2018, the New York gallery and residency space ConArtist Collective will exhibit artworks by the 2018 Jeffrey Ahn, Jr. Fellow, Rivers Liu. A current freshman at Vassar College, Liu created a body of multi-media work this past summer with funding from the Jeffrey Ahn, Jr. Fellowship.

In their first major public exhibition, Liu presents a number of large-scale, mixed media paintings, photographs, video, and installation works at ConArtist Collective. In addition to this exhibition, Rivers was selected through SaveArtSpace to present one of their signature mixed media paintings on a billboard at 492 3rd Ave. in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. Two other artists, Cristian Pietrapiana and Sarbani Ghosh, both working at ConArtist Collective, were also selected to display their works on billboards in the Crown Heights and Greenpoint neighborhoods of Brooklyn. SaveArtSpace's mission is to "[t]ransform advertisement space into public art by and for the local community."

As this year's Fellow, Rivers had an exceptionally prolific summer. We are excited to share these opportunities to view the new body of work they have created.

Rivers notes, "I spend my days searching for singular moments on familiar corners and people that can be captured in either analog film or can be eventually translated into a work of art. I'm struck by the deep power in the repetition I find around me despite the ongoings of a fast-paced city that is constantly changing."

We hope you will be able to view Rivers's exhibited works. The opening reception at ConArtist Collective (119 Ludlow Street, New York, NY) will be on September 26th, 2018 from 7pm-11pm. The exhibition will run through September 28th, 2018. The show's curators are Goodie and Ivana Larrosa. For more information pertaining to these events, please click here.
